Gutters unblocked

Gutters can become blocked and that’s simply due to changing weather conditions depositing, a host materials into the guttering which cause obstructions to develop and water to come over the side.  

If water is seen coming over the side of the guttering during heavy rainfall and especially heavy downpours, it is probably caused by a build-up of rubbish which is laying in the gutter and obstructing it in some way, causing water to overflow.

It’s surprising how much rubbish can build up and the most common reasons for gutter blockages are:

Leaves from nearby trees, bushes, moss and other growths from the roof, debris washed off the roof, food scraps discarded by birds etc.

If you look up at guttering around buildings, it is common to see plants or other vegetation growing in the guttering itself.  This vegetation of course, has roots and they have to have a base and that indicates a build up of dirt and rubbish which allows it to grow.
